Alawusa Adewuyi is the Company Secretary at Keystone Bank Limited. He is an accomplished legal and governance professional with over two decades of diverse experience spanning banking, corporate governance, legal advisory, and boardroom management within Nigeria’s financial services sector. His career cuts across core and investment banking, with a proven track record in legal structuring, credit administration, regulatory compliance, and board-level advisory.
He began his career in 1997 as an Associate at Olawoyin & Olawoyin and later transitioned into banking with United Bank for Africa Plc. He went on to join Intercontinental Bank Plc, where he rose to the role of Deputy Manager and Acting Company Secretary. Concurrently, he served as the pioneer Company Secretary for Intercontinental Properties Limited, playing a pivotal role in growing the subsidiary’s balance sheet and strengthening governance structures. His leadership was further demonstrated at Kakawa Discount House (later FBNQuest Merchant Bank), where he led the legal and governance aspect of the acquisition of the Discount House by FBN Holdings.
In 2020, Alawusa joined Asset & Resource Management (ARM) Holding Company Limited as Associate Director and Head of the Governance and Sustainability Division. There, he spearheaded board governance reforms, regulatory advisory, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives across Nigeria’s largest non-bank asset management group.
Alawusa holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, a Barrister-at-Law (B.L.), degree from the Nigerian Law School, and an LLM from the University of London. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, an Associate of the Sustainability Professionals Institute, a member of both the Nigerian Bar Association and the International Bar Association, and the Institute of Directors. An alumnus of Lagos Business School, he has also completed executive programs in sustainable banking, leadership, and risk management at recognized institutions such as University of Edinburgh.
