PRIZE PRESENTATION – KEYSTONE BANK KIDDIES POETRY COMPETITION

MEET THE BRIGHT STARS OF THE KEYSTONE KIDDIES’ POETRY COMPETITION!

The Keystone Kiddies’ Poetry Competition, themed “The Future Leader of Nigeria,” was organised to provide children between the ages of 4 and 12 with a platform to creatively express their vision for the country’s future.

Hundreds of entries were received from brilliant young poets across Nigeria aged 4–12, each poem a reflection of creativity, imagination, and a deep sense of purpose.

The judging process was led by Professor Bosede Funke Afolayan, Professor of English at the University of Lagos, a published poet and playwright, and a Commonwealth Fellow. To ensure fairness and quality in the selection process, we were honoured to have Professor Bosede Funke Afolayan serve as the competition’s judge. A respected professor of English at the University of Lagos, Prof. Afolayan is a published poet, playwright, and Commonwealth Fellow whose works including Conversations, Look Back in Gratitude, and Once Upon an Elephant (recently listed on the WAEC Literature syllabus) reflect her passion for storytelling and youth development. She brought a thoughtful, experienced lens to the judging process, selecting poems that truly captured the theme.

Following the selection of outstanding entries, prize presentations were conducted across seven states: Delta, Owerri, Lagos, Abuja, Benin, Kano, and Kaduna. Winners were recognised and awarded for their creativity and alignment with the competition theme.
