KEYSTONE BANK CHAMPIONS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS IN SCHOOLS ACROSS NIGERIA

In celebration of Children’s Month, Keystone Bank embarked on a nationwide Mental Health Awareness campaign across schools in Nigeria reaching young minds in 11 zones with a simple but powerful message – your mind matters, and your voice is valid.

With the theme “Bullying/Physical Violence in Schools and Understanding the Impact of Trauma,” this initiative aimed to spark critical conversations around mental well-being among students, while encouraging safe self-expression and healing.

In collaboration with professional counsellors, the project was brought to life in selected schools across Nigeria. These sessions helped students recognize and respond to signs of bullying, physical violence, and trauma in and around them. Using real-life scenarios, interactive discussions, and guided exercises, counsellors empowered students to speak up, seek help, and understand the importance of emotional resilience.

For many of the participating students, it was the first time they’d been invited to reflect, share, and receive support in such an open way.

Participating schools included Ashmelin International School (Port Harcourt), Faith Academy (Abuja), Mabest Academy (Akure), Life Spring Academy (Kaduna), Supreme House Montessori School (Lagos Island), among others.

At Keystone Bank, we believe that mental wellness is just as important as financial wellness, and this project reaffirmed our commitment to nurturing both. By starting these conversations early, we’re helping build a generation of confident, self-aware, and emotionally secure Nigerians.
